Baby Whisperer Method
Tracy Hogg teaches the Baby Whisperer method in her books. What exactly is the Baby Whisperer method? Tracy was a very big fan of acronyms to make it easier for parents to remember her tips. Throughout her books she uses these acronyms to help parents assess what it is that their child needs.
However, she has one main theme that she repeats often and spends the most time discussing. She uses to book to explain how to tweak your child’s schedule so that they are on a loose routine. She calls this her EASY method.
E – Eat
A – Activity
S – Sleep
Y – You (time for you)
This little diddy saved me my sanity. I read Tracy’s first book in less than two days and had my son on an EASY routine that very day. What she described in her book as “accidental parenting” was exactly what I was doing. I had taught my son some habits that were causing him to be unable to follow his natural routine.
The most important piece of information I learned from this was that I should not be feeding my son to sleep. Since he had been born, I had always nursed him in to lala land. Unfortunately, this did not allow my son to learn any self soothing methods and teach himself how to sleep.
With the help of Tracy’s book, I got that little darling falling asleep without being fed, and he was SO GRATEFUL! He started napping longer than twenty minutes at a time and I started having a little time during the day to myself.
The best part about the Baby Whisperer Method for me, was the fact that Tracy does not endorse letting your baby cry. She is a firm believer that you must maintain trust with your infant and by allowing them to cry without comforting them, you break that trust.
